This mailer was just given to us by one of our loyal readers:

Are they desperate or just plain shameless?

Believe it or not they pay real money for people to figure out what to say to EPISD voters in order to get them to vote for the bond. They sure don’t have a very high opinion of the intelligence of our community. They should ask for their money back. 🙂

Did ja ever wonder who pays for all that crap that ends up in yer mail box? Who prints it? Who mails it? I wonder too, what happened to the maintenance budget? Why are the busses and schools in such disrepair? Where did the budgeted funds go? Hmmmm?

I asked myself the same questions this morning when I received my mail. Does TEA allow EPISD to budget for this nonsense?

The mailer shown is false advertising and blatant manipulation. I pass lots, and I do mean lots, of EPISD school buses every day and I have NEVER seen a single EPISD bus that was not in nice condition. The use of that one particular bus photo proves the dishonesty of the EPISD board and reflects badly on all the contributors to the El Paso Rising PAC, which is spearheaded by the EPISD board chairperson. The contributors are the usual suspects.

  6. KVIA XTRA FACT CHECKER says:

KVIA Xtra carried a Bond Debate. Unfortunately the were a number of GIGANTIC POLITICAL LIES that were told during this broadcast!! Here is the link:

    http://www.kvia.com/news/top-stories/abc-7-xtra-weekend-102416/130692611

BELOW IS THE FACT CHECKER ON WHAT SHE SAID LAST NIGHT ON KVIA:

    A. Board President Dori Fenenbock says there were no EPISD high level administrators on the Facilities Committee.

Yet the Facilities Committee Roster at http://www.episd.org/community/fac_roster.php lists the following administrators on the committee:

    Taryn Bailey, Chief School Officer
Carlos Gallinar, Executive Director, Planning and Innovative Schools Construction
    Carla Gonzales, Area Superintendent
Angela Henderson, Principal, Coronado High School
and 8 different high rankers as Facilitators

    FACT CHECKER SAYS: FALSE STATEMENT

    B. Board President Dori Fenenbock says that Coronado High School is getting the largest sum of Bond Money because it is the largest high school in EPISD and not Franklin High School.

Here are the EPISD enrollment numbers:

Franklin (including 9th Grade Center): 2705 students
    Coronado: 2685 students

Fenenbock doesn’t include the Franklin 9th graders in her count.

FACT CHECKER SAYS: FALSE AND MISLEADING STATEMENT

    C. Board President Fenenbock says that each closed campus will save exactly $1 million dollars.

She never talks about the maintenance of the campus, security, electricity, water, gas, mothballing, vandalism, the destruction costs of razing the campus, asbestos abatement prior to razing, or any of the other things that go along with closing schools.

FACT CHECK SAYS: FALSE STATEMENT. THERE WILL PROBABLY BE EXPENSE TO THE DISTRICT IN CLOSING,, RATHER THAN SAVING MONEY.

    D. Board President Fenenbock says that the Compact with El Paso is legally binding.

What she doesn’t talk about is the very vague statements about what the CURRENT BOARD believes rather than cold, hard guarantees! This compact is not binding in any way that matters. It is a callous attempt to rook the citizens of El Paso into voting for this money pit of a bond.

FACT CHECKER SAYS: FALSE FALSE FALSE!!!

    E. Board President Fenenbock says that EPISD is “‘trimming administrative fat” in the final minutes of her interview.

You only need to look at the EPISD Organization Charts at http://www.episd.org/district_info/orgchart.php (click into each of the positions in blue) to see the loads and loads of new administrative positions that have been grown in the Durant, Arrieta, and Lopez kingdoms to see that there is no “fat trimming”. Instead, EPISD has never had as many administrators as it has right now!

FACT CHECKER SAYS: FALSE FALSE FALSE!!!

Schools have been operational for umpteen years and so have buses. Kids are getting educated and going on to colleges, trades, and jobs. Kids are getting honors and scholarships and early college credits and all kinds of achievements and they have been doing so for umpteen years. Modern facilities does not equal better learning; Good teaching does! I already voted NO to the EPISD Bonds.

EPISD has turn political — say anything to get elected or get your bond passed. Note to EPISD: after seeing the picture above, you have lost ALL credibility in my eyes.
    Vote NO.

Someone should challenge the folks at El Paso Rising to produce the actual bus that was shown in the photo. It looks like its about to get compacted. More than likely this was a stock image from somewhere off the internet. All it is is insulting, period.

They can’t produce the bus, but I can produce the photo. It’s a stock photo that they purchased from iStockphoto or another image house. Here are the details:

      It found it using http://www.spiderpic.com/search/old-school-bus.

Just look through the images and you will find the one that they used.
