EPISD–payroll

Word reached us that EPISD is changing its payroll policies next year.

Our understanding is that currently if you do work from the 1st to the 15th of the month you get paid two weeks later at the end of the month.

If we heard correctly EPISD plans to change the two week delay to a three week delay next year.

It looks like that will save the district one whole week of payroll expense.

Stand back and watch the reaction from the employees.

We deserve better

This is one of the most disgusting things EPISD has done. It shows a total disregard for employees and their families. It’s not a problem for highly paid administrators like the superintendent and CFO. Cabrera’s recent raise alone higher than many other employees make all year. Just his bonus would support several families. On second thought, I wonder if Cabrera will be on the same payroll cycle. I’m willing to bet his contract requires that he be paid on the 1st and 15th.

I am sorry, but this is a good example of not paying attention to what is important. It is not when the employees get paid but rather what the employees get paid. I am still waiting to see what kind of a raise Cabrera will get on the backs of the teachers as his percent salary increase will match theirs. Not money wise but percent wise. It should be around $10,000.

That’s not exactly what’s happening Brutus. It is to compensate for the district closure the week of July 3. Supervisors will need the extra time (since they will be off duty) to verify and approve time cards. Plus if you look at the calendar, there are 3 times a year when paychecks go out at a 3 week schedule. Those months have 5 Fridays based on when the first falls. It’s those 31 day months that throw things off. I know it seems odd but it’s always been that way. They still get their full pay albeit a week later. The current payroll schedule is updated through Oct. 2017 and it looks like it always does to me. Unless you’re referring to something else that hasn’t been announced yet this is common practice and it does not reduce pay. I can see how if could present some bill pay issues for those employees who work paycheck to paycheck, however.

  2. Changing Payroll Policies?? Oh, thought maybe that meant cutting out all the “Middle men” and letting Cabrera, Dori Fennenbock write their OWN pay checks. Then they could give THEMSELVES monthly pay increases, increase benefits.
