The Washington Post wrote this about the wife of our former president and had it on their web site the other day:
At the Pennsylvania Conference for Women Tuesday, Obama said many Americans do not trust the party to represent their interests because they don’t see themselves reflected in its leadership. She described the demographics of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle during the State of the Union speech in the chamber of the United States House of Representatives:
On one side of the room, it’s literally gray and white. Literally, that’s the color palette on one side of the room. On the other side of the room, there are yellows and blues and whites and greens. Physically, there’s a difference in color, in the tone. Because one side: all men, all white. On the other side: some women, some people of color. And whenever I was sitting, I would always have a guest in that booth, and I was always the most embarrassed at the beginning when people would see that, because I’d say that, is it just me, am I looking at how governance works?

embarassed? by the fact that she lied about the complexion of both parties or the fact that she only sees the world in terms of what color people are and clearly prefers black? preferring one race over all others seems to be the textbook definition of racism. i don’t see a lot of cherokee representatives but don’t think that’s a result of systemic racism.

Wow! In what way did Mrs. Obama lie? I understand that her point is exactly what many of us have been saying for a long time! The elected representatives of this nation do not truly represent the electorate in any way, shape, or form! The majority of them are indeed old, rich white men! All you have to do is look at any photos of either House to see the old and white part! And, all you have to do to see the rich part is look at the legislation those rich old white men do pass! Michelle’s words do not reflect a preference for one color or another, and they are not aimed at racism at all. This person who apparently lacks the courage of his/her convictions needs to go back to school, after doing some serious soul searching.

Your comments are narrow minded. Judging representatives by the color of their skin, their income or their gender is exactly what the civil rights movement tried to eliminate. Just because someone looks like me doesn’t mean they represent me well.

Judging?! Who is judging? All she did, and all I did, was point out that the elected representatives do not resemble (“represent”) the people that elected them! I did not say much about their performance. That would be judging! FYI, I am old, fat, white, and poor, so I’d say that not one single member of Congress looks like me.

You should get get glasses if you can’t see the diversity. For the others you must failed the color test. The Obamas need to follow Presidential Tradition. That is once you’re out of office, you’re out. Stay out of politics. Remember how annoying Carter was? He was always trying to work foreign policy. The way I look at it. They had their chance now move along.

The 20 TRILLION$$$ debt that just continued to go up, the abandoned Benghazi Ambassador, a “health-care program” that bankrupted the most needy. One of the worst things that Obama and his wife did to OUR country, was THEY set “Race Relations” back to the era of the 1950’s-1960’s. I remember Dr Martin Luther King, others of that time, the protests, Selma, the marches to every where, his murder in Memphis, the “Whites Only”, the “Negroes Only” signs in restaurants, public places and many other things. .It was a time of protests, but they didn’t burn, loot, destroy. It was a “Cause”. Barack Obama likes his EXCUSE, that people didn’t like HIM because he was the FIRST Black President. People didn’t like him because HE was Americas first RACIST President and his sole purpose was to divide the country by ANY means necessary. HE is STILL working on that.
