Putting the squeeze on local governments

It seems that congress is considering eliminating the personal income tax deductions for state and local taxes.

That would cause citizen involvement to lower local taxes.

Maybe that is a good idea.

We deserve better

It will result in taxation upon taxation and it sure will not lower federal spending a dime.

I will take a tax cut anytime and have personal income to spend or not…the problem is :
To control spending is under the the local, state and federal government.

Corporations get to keep all their deductions, including for state and local taxes. Individuals are losing theirs. They even took away the $250 deduction teachers can claim if they purchase supplies out of their own pockets. Notice a pattern here? Congress, like our local government, is catering to businesses and special interests at the expense of individuals.

The tax plan — which is not going to pass anyway — would double the standard deduction so the $250 supply deduction would not even be necessary. A $20,000 deduction on your taxes would benefit 90% of all El Pasoans.
