Undisclosed deal details

The city is entertaining entering into a relationship with some private developers to facilitate the building of a high rise hotel/apartment/parking building in downtown.

This document (caution big but worth looking at)  downtownhighrise was posted as backup material to a recent agenda item relating to the project.

Take a few moments to browse through the pdf.

It would be interesting to compute the percentage of the material that was redacted compared to what was disclosed.  The stated reason for the redaction is that the information is proprietary.  I can see how dollar amounts and approaches might be, but a lot of those pages are not proprietary.

We deserve better

Maybe Someone should ask congressional candidate Dori Fenenbock. The Miami developers are her relatives and who likely will help bankroll her campaign. I guess the new boys are in town and they want their piece of the pie and politicos of their own.

This will be another so-called public/private partnership in which the private partners get virtually all the profits and the public gets the bill. They always include just enough crumbs in the agreement to make it appear that the public is sharing the revenue and profits, but the truth is that those crumbs do not cover the public’s share of the cost. Case in point is the ballpark lease agreement, which is the worst stadium deal ever struck by a local government.
