Take some. . . I don’t care.
In Italy, the cops don’t “Set Traps/ Set Highway Traps/ Follow cars till they make a mistake.”
When you need the cops. . . . . you CALL them, and they will SHOW UP. Otherwise, they leave you alone.
In Japan, they have a very convenient Police Box, a small 400 sq. ft. or room on the corner every 3-4 blocks and if you want a cop or ask a question or report something, you can go Over-There or CALL THEM.
I’d think, stopping cars is the most dangerous thing the cops can do, other then show up at a Family-Spouse-Home Argument-Family Fight.
A cop could be a/the target and even be Lead into a situation where the cop would be exposed to being shot while unprotected, standing on the street. Very dangerous for them.
The fact is that El Paso hasn’t had true Traffic Enforcement units for years. The Budget just cannot afford it. It is not just speeding, but all traffic offenses that go unchecked on most every City street, because we never seen patrol units any more. Maybe if we didn’t spend all our tax dollars on bright, shiny toys for the rich folks, we could afford to have enough cops.
Brutus you are right about the increase in aggressive driving…and I will note that the Mesa Street re-do plans to create underpasses etc all along Mesa will enable drivers to get up to speeds even higher than they can now.
Nothing a $300,000 roundabout can’t cure. We’re getting one on Rim Road.

Traffic enforcement begins with Police presence…Good driving begins at Home.

If building permits are up 275K then maybe they don’t need the extra money from traffic fines lately.
