The poem my appear in that book but Mr. O’Bryon does not own the copyright to it. That book is a collection of quotes that are not written by O’Bryon. The poem is anonymous and appears in many places on the internet and in print. If anyone actually had it copyrighted, s/he does not enforce it.

HOW TRUE, HOW TRUE; especially locally where in this recent primary election, we were finally given a glimpse of how this ‘grand vision’ was allowed to play out in recent years at UMC, the Children’s Hospital, and County.
Now if blog posters really want to do something about it, rather than simply ‘bitching and moaning’ there is an vehicle for change. Recently there were some local TV ads by the Texas LT Governor, stating his concerns over never ending property tax increases.
In the next Texas Legislative Session, that legislative proposal to limit yearly tax increases to 4 PERCENT will likely be reintroduced.
If you like the idea, let those Texas Senators and Representative OUTSIDE OF El PASO know that you support their idea! Also let the Lt Governor and Governor’s offices know of your support of this yearly tax increase limit idea.
And certainly don’t expect our local elected leaders to support the idea.

There is a mind shift necessary for some people to make in elected public service and that is to see the public money – tax revenues; bond proceeds – as a source of power for themselves, not the common treasure of which they are the stewards. If they succeed in making this mind shift then they can use their position to reward their friends and punish their enemies, usually with contracts and favors from the institution they now govern.
I think the current EPISD board gets this and now has $600MM to reward their friends.
