Yikes!
Talk about shrinking.
This slide came from a presentation to the EPISD board relating to combining Basset middle school with their Young Women’s Academy.
According to the slide the combined enrollment of the two schools this year is 1,261 students.
Three years from now they are predicting 971.
Yet they want to build an entirely new facility.
We deserve better
Brutus
(GRIN) You miss the point. If they only have 971 students then they only need 21.5 teachers, 1 counselor, 1 AP, and 1 Principal. True cost savings by getting rid of faculty and staff.

Well yeah. THEY have the Bonds, our money, MORE tax INCREASES. WE couldn’t expect THEM to stop TAKING OUR money, give anything back. Maybe could just blow it off on Cabrera and his minions, the School Board??

And yet, they aren’t closing schools as originally planned this year due to public pressure. Kicking the can down the road is weak leadership and costing taxpayers money.

EPISD, Cabrera, the School Board have NO concern about wasting, costing TAXPAYERS money. THEY can always TAKE MORE in tax INCREASES.

On the subject of EPISD, this is from the Times:
“Trustees in April approved $456,200 in funding to pay for a historic architectural study of El Paso High’s facade. The study is being conducted by Nine Degrees Architecture & Design who, in turn, are consulting with Gensler, a San Francisco-based firm.”
So……………..
EPISD promised that $500,000 of the recent bond would be used to maintain the EPH facade. Okay, but a half million dollars to STUDY the facade?!?!?! Why does this require two firms?!?!?! The local firm is based in Sunland Park, not El Paso. Either the local firm is qualified or they’re not. The San Francisco firm has ties to Texas Tech.
Draw your own conclusion.
