Sneak attack

City council has this item on their agenda for the “special” city council meeting today, August 14, 2018.

Discussion and Action on FY 2018 – 2019 Budget (including adjustments.)

There are evidently some adjustments.

No backup material was posted with the agenda so we probably won’t know what they are proposing until they have done it to us.

We deserve better

Pretty much everything THEY do to US is a “sneak attack”. In secrecy, behind our backs, lie, deny, deceive.

It could be that since the Mayor is facing a recall petition they are rethinking frivolous spending.

Clandestine meetings have no place in city government . The people committing these acts are shameful. Taxation without representation? The city council is not qualified on several counts to represent the citizens of this city. I say to our citizens Vote! The city government has raised property taxes 150% over the past 10 years. The westside natatorium that cost double
the projected cost, four months old, needs all the stainless replaced because it has oxidized, the generator has been replaced, it burst a pipe and it had to be closed . Who was the builder? Who is responsible ? This was a project I support. We had a beautiful children’s museum and the city tore it down.
When the talented Professor Temor that
headed the art museum, finally got
fed up and left the city, he stated that this city is run by the faceless and nameless. Says a lot . ( source El Paso Inc) We do deserve better!

The problems at the new natatorium were partly due to damage caused by employees who didn’t know what they were doing. That’s a fact that the city manager acknowledged.

I don’t disagree with anything you said except that “we had a beautiful children’s museum.” It was pretty worthless. I took children there on multiple occasions and there were very few exhibits… and only half were in working order. It was not a city museum but a 501 c 3.

I think you posted your comment in the wrong place. I never mentioned the children’s museum.

Yes, in later years it got run down because only a handful of folks stepped up to keep it going. A second museum was also put in place, the Exploreum, with private money. It had a number of outstanding traveling exhibits. That didn’t fit the city’s agenda — we deserved to go way over budget with what will likely be a big playground rather than a STEM focused museum, so in spite of good attendance figures there it eventually when out of business when it became obvious the city was going to compete with it vs see it as an option for the children’s museum.

33,000 student visitors annually. Smithsonian certified. There was always a line of buses in front and it didn’t cost the city a dime. It was the only show in town for STEM. The City chose AAA.

Jerry is right on the mark. Everyone makes a big deal about every donation that the Mountain Star owners make, but the city totally disrespected all the time and money that the Dodsons gave to build and operate Insights Science Center. I’m glad Chuck didn’t have to watch the destruction of his legacy.

Why stop with recalling Margo? Recall the entire Silly Council. THEY don’t REPRESENT US. THEY are just there to waste, tax, spend, increase taxes and rake off the pay offs, kick backs, campaign “Donations” from whoever OWNS them. Fire that over paid, high-dollar City “Manager”. HE does nothing to help, nothing in the BEST interest of the PEOPLE. THEY just give him a pile of OUR money to blow-off and that’s what he does. No better than the rest of them for tax, waste, spend.

He must be scared, note that he loudly threatened to veto the utility fee that was perfectly ok until he started to hear complaints about it. Anything to stay in office!

some might call that listening to the voters. we’re never happy with people even when we get what we want. why no attacks on the reps that still wanted to impose those fees?

A recall on District Rep 2 Annello, District Rep 3 Hernandez, District Rep 4 Morgan, and District Rep 7 Rivera would have to be initiated and conducted by registered voters eligible to vote in those respective districts.

Most of them are up for re-election in Nov. Noe is term limiting out. If not recalled, Margo is near the beginning of a six year term. Your vote counts in Nov. Try to vote for someone who isn’t a product of Shapleigh’s tax and spend community scholars program.

The employees that are trained by the city are the city’s responsibility. No kicking the can down the road. Why is there no accounting available?

In the case of the damage caused by employees at the natatorium, the city released a statement saying that those kinds of issues were to be expected. They actually said that.
