In the district one city representative runoff you have a choice between an incumbent whose behavior we know a lot about and a challenger that very little is known about.
Which would you rather have?
You need to decide.
In another local race a candidate lost a spot in the runoff by 15 votes so you need to vote.
We deserve better

Voting for POLITICIANS in El Taxo is like a box of chocolates. WE never know what WE are going to get. Is it a person who actually WILL REPRESENT the PEOPLE or just some get rich schemer that just wants to fill their pockets with OUR money and “Donations” from Developers, the idle rich of El Taxo??. We could end up with another Veronica Escobar, Joyce Wilson, Beto O’Rourke, John Cook, Dee Margo, City Council in general. Might as well use a dart board when electing people to REPRESENT US in El Taxo. REPRESENTING US, is NEVER their concern. THEY are just in it for whatever THEY can get, TAKE from US.

District 5 had a race with the winner taking 57% of the vote among four relative unknowns. Her financing came from all the usual suspects and yet the voters gave her the seat without even needing a runoff. Sometimes overcoming the kind of money these guys pour into literally buying city council seats is a very difficult task. Sending out 20,000 direct mail pieces four times is verrrry expensive.

True.
However Noe endorsed the winner which may have also helped.

Noe’s pro-developer votes tell you all you need to know.

His endorsement didn’t ring with the voters only with the donors. She was going to be just as Cooperative as he has been.

Exactly right. Beto O’Rourke another example.. 100 MILLION$$$$ thrown at him from the “left coast” and across the country, Democrats, rich elitist trying to BUY him and the Texas voters, election for him. Only about 7–, 8,000 donations across Texas.

Lose-lose. I’ll sit this one out.

If you’re in D1 and you sit it out, you are guaranteed four more years of Svarzbein giving our money to his wealthy donors and to people like Great Wolf. I will take my chances that the newcomer might be more honest than the incumbent. It’s hard to imagine her being any worse. If nothing else, she put street infrastructure at the top of her priority list, so at least you know she is listening.

I heard Veronica Frescas at a candidate forum and was impressed. Peter did not bother to show up. She has no money from developers or the others in the “usual suspects.” If you sit this out, don’t complain about what you get.

This D1 election is easy. If you like what is happening in D1 and El Paso vote for the incumbent, if you are not happy try some new blood!
