EPISD–please learn to follow the rules

Does the EPISD board of trustees do anything right?

The snippet below is taken from the bottom of a recent application to be placed on the election ballot for a district representative:

Notice that the bottom portion is “TO BE COMPLETED BY CITY SECRETARY OR SECRETARY OF THE BOARD”.

Who is the secretary of the board?  From the latest board meeting minutes that they have gotten around to publishing:

Ms. Carrasco is neither the city secretary nor the secretary of the board of trustees.

Do these people even know that there are laws controlling what they do and how they do it?

In this case Texas Election code 144.004.

We deserve better

Mrs. Carrasco is the secretary for the Board. She is an EPISD employee. She is not the Board Secretary.

The only thing I see that may be is issue is that I’m not sure a notary can notorize her own signature. The whole reason you require a notary is to have a third party validate that the signer is the person signing.

I didn’t think it was legal for a notary to notarize her on signature. The whole point of having something notarized is to have a third party verify the identity of the person signing the document. https://www.asnnotary.org/img/DontNotarizeYourOwnSignature.pdf

Laws? They don’t care about the rules or the laws.

What do you expect from the board that ignored the fact that its president did not live in the district he represented?

Why pay for an in-house lawyer, her assistant and secretary if they don’t have a handle on the district’s legal issues!?

Looking forward to Deputy Dawg’s apologetics on this one.

He should write column on the El Paso Herald Post explaining why we are all stupide.
