Sun Metro continues to shrink

Sun Metro’s performance numbers are out for the period ending May, 2019 (their third fiscal quarter):

Notice that ridership is down another 6.7% for the year.

2018 had a 5% decrease from 2017.

2017 had a 9.3% decrease from 2016.

2016 had a 9.2% decrease from 2015.

For the month of May 2019 the cost per trip was $5.22 compared to $3.73 for the same month in 2018.

Its time for a change.

We deserve better

They don’t even have all the buses online yet. This is a gift from Joyce Wilson, she brought all her cronies in with her and bloated our debt in an as-yet unforeseen way.

We can thank Cook, Ortega, Niland, Byrd, O’Rourke, Acosta, Noe, et al for their largesse and profligate spending.

Hopefully they can all come back and celebrate when the City of El Paso files bankruptcy.

Wilson was then gifted a cushy, highly-paid state job, compliments of the same wealthy political donors who are now benefiting from her efforts on their behalf while she was city manager. They even pushed her predecessor out of the job to make room for her.

And let’s not forget a city in Florida wouldn’t agree to her compensation demands when she was job hunting and they still managed to hire someone. I’m convinced our city leaders think overpaying the top civil servant leadership positions makes us look like a most successful city. Instead, folks elsewhere laugh at our stupidity.

Let us see if the City decides to continue down the road of inefficiencies at Sun Metro by signing on the present management team contractor or choosing another. The contract is still listed as TBA (to be announced). Of course responses to the bid were low. That’s what happens when the specifications intentionally favor the on-board management team.

BRUTUS: Thanks for continuing to update your blog readers about this important Sun Metro ridership and usage issue.

Shitty decisions divert limited taxpayer resources from other critical transportation projects, and streetcars are a perfect example.

For all their ‘chest beating’ our local media are neutered eunuchs when it comes to real government oversight reporting.

This is a crazy thought, but I wonder if Uber wouldn’t be cheaper. The economy is good and the people at Sun Metro that lose jobs could find other ones. It might even be better for the environment than running those big, empty buses up and down the hot streets all day. And to think the City wants to raise our taxes, again, to keep this party going. Maybe if we tell Veronica Escobar that illegals and inconvenienced by out crappy bus system she would look into fixing it for us? But I shouldn’t be too hard on the congresswoman who is confused about her real constituency; at least she isn’t Fennenbucks!

Sun Metro just another albatross around the necks of TAXPAYERS. How does a bus SERVICE make money when NOBODY rides the bus?? They deliver the maids, baby sitters in the morning and take them back in the afternoon. Nobody at the bus stops up Northeast, by the time it’s dark, early evening, only the driver on the bus with the lights on, riding around. `Maybe everybody is riding the little trolleys??. Another total waste of TAXPAYER money. Maybe the trolley company, Sun Metro should start doing bake sales, yard sales? Oh well the politicians of El Taxo who created, BOUGHT this waste of money can always INCREASE OUR TAXES.
