Today is Constitution day.
Our governing document was signed in Philadelphia on September 17, 1787.
Thirty nine men signed the document.
I thank them.
There is a link at the top of this page that will take you to an electronic version.
I can’t help but wonder how much better off we would be if some of our legislators actually read it.

Brutus
maybe a democrat will read it and change parties.
more likely, if a democrat did read the constitution, his friends would castigate him publicly, make him lose his job, make sure everyone in his family’s information is posted all over the internet, send them all death threats, throw “milkshakes” with Portland cement and other harmful chemicals in his face, beat him, catch any nearby building on fire, put his name on a blacklist so no one will hire him, spit in his food, “shame” him publicly any time he went anywhere, etc.
all in the name of diversity, inclusion and love

What in the world is wrong with you?! Why must you continuously attack one party for no reason at all? The subject of today’s post is simply the Constitution! It is not about political parties. Frankly, this independent is ready to become a declared Democrat just to piss you off! As for the Constitution itself, currently it is under attack by the party you apparently favor, as one branch of government defies its purpose by instructing certain people to ignore Congressional subpoenas, and as that same party has blocked the actions of a properly elected Democratic President, and (through the inaction of one Moscow Mitch) continued to block any real governing for some years now.

The beauty of the document is how it defines a balance of powers between the states (senate; electoral college) and federal government and within the branches of the government itself. The men who wrote it deeply distrusted absolute power.

The U.S was founded on slavery, white supremacy and patriarchy … not independence. What do 39 white men know about independence? This is an abomination. Viva Robert Francis.

The document itself, that ended slavery eventually, shows to all what the US was founded upon. What would you substitute?
