And the only thing that El Pasoans get out of EPISD is higher taxes. fatter pockets, more benefits, Mo money for Cabrera and his minions. What does Cabrera do for all this money he TAKES from the WORKING people of El Taxo? “Johnny, Suzie, Juan” STILL can’t read, write or do math and yet the PRICE of Cabrera just being in El Taxo continues to INCREASE. .

Actually the city (airport property) owns the land EPISD sits on and is forcing them to move as the lease expired several years ago and they will not allow EPISD to renew their lease. So be clear, it was not EPISD’s choice to move. That is what that is about.

Just the facts, yes the EPISD had to move but you did not mention that they had land that they already owned in North East El Paso/ They even had money to pay for it at one time but instead went to Certificates of Obligation to finance the land purchase and the building.

Very true Dan but the question I was responding to was why a new administration building was being built, not how it was paid for. EPISD does have a very large parcel of land in the Northeast that could have been used for an administration building. Plenty of parking, close to restaurants and shops and space to build a one story building. Now one building is being erected and another gutted and redesigned with little to no parking for employees or visitors and crowded streets all around. At least it is in the center of the district which was the reason that location was chosen over the Northeast.

I think it was actually the Stanton Professional Building which is owned by El Paso Community College as well as the adjacent lot.

It was actually about giving business to the company (Architect) that Jacobs brought in with them when they were hired to oversee the bond issue. They were from I think Dallas and had recently picked up another company that just happened to be an architecture company that made them eligible for the work in El Paso. Then you have to look closely at the company that got the bid who was from Albuquerque.. If you check out these three companies that I mentioned you will find a connection.

Just the facts, yes the second-best phony figures in the county.
When I found out what the EPISD was doing I told the TEA and they quite using the ACR as a marker and now it is only used in their FIRST program and I know of no districts that have been punished for any violation of this bogus number.
Any money paid to Administrators with Federal money is not counted in the formula.

Some EPISD central office department heads are going to be ticked when they see this graph. Many department’s are cutting their budgets each year. Where is all that money going?

If money was the school board’s driving motivation, then they should have found a super with experience who knows how to run a district with efficiency. In Cabrera’s defense, he was hired to think outside the box and innovate. His directive was probably to take EPISD as far away from the scandalous past as possible! He has done what he was told to do and his evaluations and compensation reflect this. If Cabrera and his administration is not to a particular citizen’s liking, then they take the issue up with their trustee. In spite of what often seems like a super controlling his board, the reality is the other way around. The board controls the super and they are very, very happy with him. Personally, I will not vote to re-elect my trustee 🙂

Margo did exactly what he wanted to do and that was to hire an Education Reform person that would turn the district into a Charter school district. People should have known as soon as it was announced that the teachers in the EPISD were going to become facilitators instead of teachers. In other words, they would be able to keep the computers and online courses perking.
When the roof caves in and it will the Trustees will be sitting with a contract worth over 2 million dollars that will be owed Cabrera.

most teachers are happy. got a nice raise, insurance rates decreased for both current and trs care retirees and all staff are about to get another 750 dollar pre xmas bonus check. things are good and on track to stay good. not great but good.

This is the phoniest figure in all of the EPISD data. What makes it phony is that monies spent on administration from certain funds are not counted in the formula. In other words, the Administrative Cost Ratio is dependent upon which funds are used to pay them. There are few if any policies that tell which Functions’ salaries have to be paid from.
