At the Tuesday, March 17, 2020 city council meeting I believe the mayor made a motion to delete the pledge of allegiance from the agenda.
No explanation was given.
I would hope that city council supports our country.
Maybe they thought that they were too busy that day.
Shame on them!

This would be par for the course in a Democrat stronghold. Spare me the “he’s a Republican” spiel. Name a single conservative thing Margo has done in office. I’ll wait.
On another note, many of the posters here will be very happy if the Pledge of Allegiance were banned at meetings.

As a member of the Board of Managers for the EPISD, he led the effort to hire Juan Cabrera.

Have to ask if maybe Margo collects a “Consulting Fee” from Cabrera, EPISD for “favors owed”?.

Cabrerra was recommended by the then Commissioner of Education to the Board. The state had a monitor and was essentially running the district from Austin, The Board of Managers had no choice, as they had to rubber stamp anything the TEA asked them to do.

But did the State say that El Paso, EPISD had to keep Cabrera FOREVER, force the taxpayers to pay him an obscene salary? The guy had to be trained, sent to school before he was even QUALIFIED for the job. In the wage poor, tax poor, people poor city of El Taxo, he is paid approximately half-MILLION$$$ a year, with benefits, all his give away’s. What is it that HE does to deserve that much? Students STILL graduate and can’t read, write or do math. Nothing has ever changed. If students FAIL to learn, then HE, his “System” have FAILED to teach, so exactly why is he paid such an outrageous “salary”?

Maybe Margo and the Clown Council are just “Cleaning house”, getting ready to impress the Socialist-Communist-Democrat Regime of Sanders or Biden? Next they will order the Flags to be taken out and down. But Margo, the Clown Council will already have their hands out in El Taxo, waiting for all the FREE money.

Brutus, you “believe” the mayor made a motion? Is there specific evidence of this? Meantime, the response characterizing Biden as well as Sanders as heading a Socialist-Communist-Democrat Regime reminds one of the good old days of Senator McCarthy. Beyond comment.

Yes it is. And a moment of silence. And the Texas Pledge. Most schools also play the National Anthem daily.

Yes, at least some schools. My neighborhood school Dr Nixon, up North East., for about 27 years, across the street. My Son, Grandson went there. Didn’t really know about it until after I retired. Then I would walk by the school in the mornings and when they started with the Pledge, I stopped to listen and then the National Anthem. The voices of those kids made my day. What a great feeling for an old Vet. The Mayor, Clown Council, El Paso politicians are a disgrace to these kids.
