The votes are in. El Pasoans passed all three propositions yesterday.
Now our focus should move from the debate about whether to spend the money or not. That decision has been taken.
We should now watch to see that they spend our money wisely.
We need to watch out for brother-in-law deals, no-bid contracts, favoritism, purchases that need to be made on an emergency basis so they feel they cannot follow the rules, and all the other methods they use to subvert our system. We need to see to it that City Council does its job of majnaging city staff.
We gave our approval, now Council must manage our expenditures in a manner that gives the voters their maximum value.
Let’s keep the light of truth shining on our governments, not to obstruct but to avoid further corruption.
