Once city hall has been reduced to rubble someone will have to haul off what remains.
Recent reports have indicated that it will take 1,000 truck loads and about two weeks to do this.
I am not complaining. It needs to be done.
I just wonder what the impact will be on traffic. I have not seen where the trucks will be going or how they will get there.
We should allow extra time in our travel plans.

Debris removal trucks for a demolition project of this size are typically staged and cued up in a manner similar to taxis at an airport. So certain streets will definitely be jammed up over the next few weeks. This will have a serious impact on our ability to get in/out of downtown.
To my knowledge, there’s been no information about which streets to use and which ones to avoid. So much for important details. The City and downtown merchants group are more focused on generating media coverage about the big “It’s Happening” banner that will be on the side of City Hall when it implodes. Whew, glad they didn’t forget the banner.

Contractor’s are required to provide a haul route to engineering for approval and a permit and that haul off route shows all the details of which streets they will take, etc, time of day, etc. You want to know – do an ORR – my God – you people just can’t help yourselves! There is no wrongdoing here – goes on all over El Paso every day when there is a large construction project.

No one said there is any wrongdoing regarding the hauling. I don’t recall seeing that word anywhere in this post or the responses. We’re simply talking about the inconvenience and lack of information, which you are obviously happy to endure. Since you are so knowledgeable of the haul route approval and permitting process, you must be involved in a business that has to deal with the city on similar projects, which might also explain why you keep throwing yourself across the railroad tracks to defend some of the incompetence and poor management at city hall.
If you know of a source of route information and traffic tips available to the public, it would have been kind of you to simply provide it rather than continue to chastise people for having concerns or opinions. Don’t penalize the rest of us for not being as smart or as well-informed as you. Otherwise, I might conclude that MEK is a pseudonym for Joyce Wilson.
Sorry, I just couldn’t help myself.

I had to go to Jury Duty…Never mind I was not told it had been cancelled. It took 15 minutes to travel from Santa Fe to Kansas and 25 from I-10 and Kansas tot he court house and no parking was available. oh the joys of an progressive City and a news Industry that is not doing its job.
Bet ELPT tells us to vote yes on all Charter Amendments and NEVER publishes them.
