Thinking about it again, the word “disclaimer” got my attention. I googled “define disclaimer” and got this gem:
a statement that denies something, esp. responsibility.

They definitely anticipate that something (or multiple things) are going to cause a lot of people to want to refer back to what was said and decided in the past, especially the last 12 to 18 months.
