The baseball team leasing 600 parking spaces at the county parking garage downtown might be workable for evening and weekend games.
Surprise!
The April 28 and 29 games are scheduled at 7:05 PM and 6:35 PM respectively. Then we have a surprise. The Wednesday, April 30, 2014 game is scheduled for 11:05 AM.
That’s in the morning. They have another game scheduled Tuesday, May 13 at the same morning time.
At first I thought that they plan to play the morning games in order to accommodate the visiting team’s travel schedule. Both games are the last game in a series.
The Wednesday, May 28 game is in the middle of a series and is scheduled to start at 11:05 AM. The visiting team will remain in town and play against us the next day.
The remainder of the season doesn’t seem to have any daytime mid-week games scheduled.
Maybe someone can tell us what this is about.
Traffic mess
What will happen to downtown traffic when they play a mid-day game in the middle of the week? What will happen with the parking situation?
We deserve better
Brutus
Brutus, Brutus Brutus…
That’s so they can bring all the little children from schools far and wide to get them excited about eating at the Blowed Up City Hall Diner and pissing in the Insights Science Center Urinals!
Look for buses and buses of kids clogging up the area!
I can’t wait for my 6 year old to come home that night and demand we go back to a game!
Its marketing baby!
Who gives a sh#t if you can’t park on the west side of downtown? We relocated all of the city offices down there in the Bob Moore Memorial City Hall (Sponsored by the El Paso Times!) Go park down there.
Then, when you are done doing your worthless bidness, come see how bidness is really done and catch the last five innings of the game. Sit in the middle with the kiddos from San Elizario Elementary school. Maybe they will buy you a Chuhuahua Woody Hunt Dawg with extra Joyce Wilson’s Chili on top!

What will it be like playing in El Paso in the middle of the day in the summer? Not to mention sitting in the stands…Hope they have medics standing by…

Mid-day games are a great way to tap into the unemployed market. The only people I know who can break away from work that time of day are government employees and friends of Paul and Woody.
Amidst all the Chihuahuas coverage, the Times printed a short item say that El Paso home foreclosure filings doubled in February.
We’re losing jobs. Foreclosures are up. But we always have baseball, 25-cent hot dogs and $1 beer. Now, that’s quality of life. It’s all good.

Traffic is so bad downtown that the El Paso Natural Gas Co., used to stagger their employees coming and then leaving at night.
With only THREE I-10 Exits coming into downtown, 2 from the east side and one from the west side, this will be a nightmare.
Every off duty AND downtown police will have to control traffic.
Doesnt leave any police for emergencies.
And certainly no way for emergency vehicles to come and go:
Police, fire and ambulances.
People will die due to the delay in medical help.
This baseball stadium is shaped like a amphitheater and the seating and spectators will be facing the rest of downtown and the residential neighborhood.
The Scottish Rite building across the street was built a long time ago and does not have much insulation so they will hear the whole thing and might as well cancel all events there. Total loss of enjoyment of their building and real estate.
THERE IS a Sound and Noise Ordinance in El Paso.

There is a Library ! ! !and a Museum 2 blocks from the baseball stadium downtown. Since the baseball stadium is NOT PUBLIC SPACE (a park open to the public) but rather a Commercial profit making business, they will not be allowed to have more than 65 db of sound and noise coming outside it.
There is Catholic School about 3-4 blocks away on Yandell.

If I drove all night and was trying to get some sleep at the Doubletree Hotel and was disturbed by all the Noise, I’d DEMAND my money back or the hotel manager would not hear the end of THIS !

I suppose you know that railroad cars with Ammonia, Natural Gas, Crude Oil, Sulfur, and Bleach will pass directly under the spectator seating? 15 feet below the main seating.
No one would want to be within 5 miles of THAT.
Diesel fumes will gather because the top of the train enclosure is now sealed on top by the stadium and will bellow out each side and engulf the seating area.
Will probably be like sitting right on top of a Smelter Smokestack.
Now in the news this week: Those people that built homes on the side of the mountain that just collaspsed in Washington state were WARNED also that it was READY for a mudslide. Warned.
They built homes anyway.

You forgot to include Southwest University in their marketing strategy. Never mind the quality of education. They are embedding an illusion into our kids minds, Mountainstar wants kids to believe Paul and Woody really care about El Paso and kids are part of SU. Forget about a four year college education just support the Chihuahuas, be happy and eat junk food.

Oh Lord. . . . I just read that Mountainstar baseball stadium downtown will start shooting FIREWORKS up and out over these old, dry and crispy 100 year old homes and trees in the West Yandell district every Saturday night !
