Beautify El Paso

Some of the comments on the blog recently were directed to our new rapid transit system that Sun Metro has named BRIO.

Looking at the Sun Metro web site, I was struck by this graphic:

BRIO

I can’t help but wonder about their “landscaped stations”.

Looking at the stations I am relieved to report that there will be little need for riding lawnmowers to trim any grass.

We deserve better

Lol, the regular large buses carried the driver and two or less passengers. So now to increase ridership, let’s double the size of the bus and we will have a driver and two passengers. Hhhhmmm, let try a trolley system, because it’s free money, to increase ridership. Now we have a driver and two passengers. Maybe we can try an overhead rail system……

Or maybe, we can accept the facts that the more malls you built, the more it kills the downtown.

What is very puzzling, the claim that the baseball stadium is always sold out. Then we see pictures and videos with half a stadium filled. Then we hear of free tickets being provided. Are El Paso residents so rich, they can afford to buy tickets to the game and not attend?

Oh what the heck, we save money by not fixing the streets. Tourist s will never notice the bumpy ride and constant swerving to avoid potholes. They can make a game of where the lanes are, that’s a saving, we don’t need no stinkin lanes!

Oh yes, forgot about the grass, we have a water shortage so let’s build a stadium, water park and a soccer field. What the heck did the the mantra go? You know we don’t need no stinkin’ grass at the national cemetery because my grand children will need water. So let’s builds a stadium……..,,

Never seen more than 3-4 people on a bus.
This includes, 1980’s, 1990’s up until now.

      Water shortage. Yes.
El Paso will soon be “toilet to the Tap”. Sewer water, filtered, chemical induced, bleached and then right into your MOUTH and into your soups and stews. On some days, maybe it will be a Stew in itself and not need added ingredients.
Like Toledo, Ohio the past 3-4 weeks. They cant even filter out the Algae. Now it’s called Toileto, Ohio.

Foster built Fountains Shopping Center to get/ take customers FROM DOWNTOWN, From Downtown. From Downtown.
Each new mall keeps people FROM going Downtown.
      That’s the whole point.
“Hey, I can buy this and that, and Don’t HAVE to go/ drive/ downtown.”

There are 600,000 people in El Paso, and 1.2 Million in Juarez, but only a supposed 9,000 attend baseball games. What are the other 1.8 million people doing? Maybe the city needs to sell its soul and the tax payers paychecks and bring in a soccer team and a pro basketball team and build it downtown. That will convince the other almost 2 million people to drop some cash in El Paso. 25 percent of the city lives below the poverty line, so lets jack up the property taxes, and increase every other city controlled fee they can think of.

Yes, total insanity, so please don’t give them more ideas. Our satire is their reality.

Attendance figures are always overstated because sports teams count tickets sold, not butts in seats.

The empty seats could account for season ticket holders who/ and anyone/ cannot attend 70? something games and bought season tickets over enthusiastically, thinking there would be no seats available.
Well, next season, I dont think you’ll see all those nuts buying season tickets now that they have had their fill of boring and slow moving baseball that could last a lifetime and the high prices of drinks, food & parking that IS NOT included in the season tickets.
When a new Disneyland is built, many people in that town that live there will go ONCE.

They also see that their baseball season tickets takes away from UTEP events and sports.

Worst of all are the lies the El Paso Times prints on a daily basis regarding the baseball park. The editor from the El Paso Times needs to understand that his news cannot compete with the Internet. The people of El Paso have access to real news from other sources which are free 24/7.

They are apparently “landscaped” with weird flower designs on the metal screens, flowers that have nothing to do with native flowers of the region. I am still waiting to hear how many new passengers the city expects to get from the $27 million and counting expended on this system on Mesa. Has anyone EVER seen a full Metro bus?

I finally saw some of those metals screens with painted flowers, which doesn’t qualify as art. Not only are the flowers not indigenous to our area, the so-called art and colors are downright ugly. I wonder if the city took money from the art budget to help fund the bus shelters.

They could use a little more art. I am old enough to recall that, when you traveled to city other than your own, the buses were of a different color scheme. It was almost a “brand” that told you you were in a different place. Now, go anywhere, and the buses are all the same and all the same color, unless they are pretending to be a six-pack of Bud.
