What those brave people did in 1776 changed the world and all of us should be grateful.
Thinking of our situation today, two quotes come to mind:
“Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both”.Β Ben Franklin
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”.Β Edmund Burke
Be careful today.
We deserve better

Should we ban seeing the British flag since they tried to take this country. . . . TWICE?
Oh. . . . Im sooooooooooo offended seeing that flag on things.
Those shoe boxes I have in my closet with the Union Jack (British Flag) on them is sooooo offensive now.
I’ll have to burn them.
(Right after I destroy all of my Dukes of Hazard Hot Wheels cars)
Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July !

I suspect that most of the people that are upset about having to rethink their relationship with the Confederate Battle Flag are not decedents of slaves, which that flag represents to them.
Usually, in most forward thinking countries, they do not display the flag of the losers or traitors. Germany does not proudly fly the Nazi flag and say “well, it is our heritage.” And don’t we get out panties in a wad when we see Russians displaying the old Soviet Union flag?
The Confederate Battle flag represents:
Treason (a group of states tried to secede from the country)
Slavery (the civil war was fought over slavery, not “states rights, unless you call wanting to own people a states right issue)
Bigotry (how many lynchings of black people were carried out while someone was carrying that flag?)
So if that is what you define as your “heritage” then maybe you need to rethink what it means on this Day of Independence.
Just saying.
