Behind closed doors

The situation we discussed in Rewriting history  continues to bother me.

Recapping, city council recently had an agenda item to approve the “corrected minutes” of a city council meeting held more than 12 years ago.

None of the city representatives, nor the mayor, nor the city manager, nor the city attorney were on board at that time.

How can any of them approve minutes as being accurate when they were not involved 12 years ago?

The minutes are being “corrected” for a reason.  Either someone wants something and the old minutes will not allow it, or they don’t want something that the old minutes require, is my guess.

The current group has not offered an explanation.

We deserve better

or it is related to robert francis o’rourke, who has appropriated the hispanic culture’s usage of the nickname “beto”, even though he is not hispanic and his name is not roberto which the nickname is based on

he also speaks spanish at his rallies to further appropriate hispanic culture, yet he does not speak any gaelic to any irish participants

Oh, please. You really need to get over your man crush. And, the absurdity of your little thing gets more ridiculous with every post! One wonders why you feel the need to hate on our local hispanic culture and language.

What is it with you and gay slurs? Are you homophobic? If not then why use the concept of homosexuality to insult what you presume to be a male?

Get over yourself and stop gay-bashing, at least in public

How is calling out O’Rourke “hating” on Hispanic culture? Explain that sentence, please.

For years I have had to listen to a constant refrain of “Russian collusion” when there is no evidence of that, but Robert Francis O’Rourke very publicly trades on and has benefitted from his very obvious cultural appropriation.

Either cultural appropriation is okay and EVERYONE can do it or it is not okay for ANYONE to do it. Pick a side.

Who invented the concept of cultural appropriation, anyway? Don’t blame me.

    Brutus,

Have you reviewed the minutes to see what you think someone might want to change? For a different council to be doing this all this time later, this has to be something big.

They approved COs with very specific language with what the money could be used for. I’d be willing to bet that was what got “corrected.”

It’s time for someone to file a FOI request for the original minutes, revised minutes, and all e-mail and text messages and personal notes regarding the change.
