The New York Times is one of several newspapers that is reporting that the Transportation Security Administration (best known for their TSA people at the airport) is now also conducting searches at sporting events, rodeos, music festivals and other places instead of just at airports. The searches are part of a program named VIPR (Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response).
The TSA has grown over the years to have over 56,000 employees at 450 airports. According to the Times:
“T.S.A. records show that the teams ran more than 8,800 unannounced checkpoints and search operations with local law enforcement outside of airports last year, including those at the Indianapolis 500 and the Democratic and Republican national political conventions.”

According to TSA officials:
“the random searches are “special needs” or “administrative searches” that are exempt from probable cause because they further the government’s need to prevent terrorist attacks.”
At a baseball game? Exempt from probable cause? What does this say about us?

Complacency will be our death. We’re paying for a plethora of alphabet agencies to make us feel uncomfortable while at the same time, we continue to do a half-assed job of protecting our borders. Thousands of years ago, the peasants used to despise being controlled by kings and pharaohs, now they demand it. A thousand years ago, the peasants screamed at a king who would suggest a 25% tax on anyone with wealth, now they demand a much higher tax. This is the first time in human history that people can vote to legally steal other people’s money. So, how’s that working out for us, comrades? FYI – Q: do you know how a politician can encourage weak-minded and simple-minded people to joyfully except other people’s hard-earned money? A: Convince them that they are…..wait for it…..victims! 21st century America, and we now have a bunch of victims. Fantastic! I can kind-of understand why a “loving” God would make us a bit crazy, (informational and/or entertainment purposes) but why did He have to make us this crazy?
