When will they tell us the truth?

Carried over from last year there are at least two issues that citizens would like to know about.

First, our west side city representative was accused of threatening a city employee last October.  The Times wrote:

City Manager Joyce Wilson said all council members have to go through standard investigative procedures when allegations are raised against them.

“They are treated the same as any other citizen. An investigation takes place and the outcome is referred to the District Attorney,” she said in an email.

Standard?

How long does it take to investigate a he-said-she-said?  Is it our district attorney that is burying this or is it the city?  Either way we deserve to know.

El Paso suing Texas attorney general

While many may think that the email issue is over, many are not aware that El Paso is still suing the attorney general over his ruling.

Why?

What are they trying to hide and when will we find out?

We deserve better

If you want to see more tap dancing around the truth, read today’s El Paso Inc article about changes in management of the downtown ballpark construction.

Shubert, who said a few weeks ago that managing the ballpark construction was his ultimate dream job, has decided to take a new job. Bill Studer. a non-engineer bureaucrat who was retiring, is now going to stay 60 more days to manage the project and collect more money from taxpayers. What Inc failed to point out, however, is that 60 days still leaves a gap between Studer’s new departure date and opening day at the ballpark.

Meantime, Joyce Wilson is spinning the situation to make it sound as though the loss of the lead manager on a $60 million project is no big deal.

Was Shubert pushed out because the project is almost certainly behind schedule?

Is city management subjecting the ballpark to the same rigorous construction standards and safety inspections it requires for privately owned projects?

I suspect none of these folks want to be around to take responsibility for problems that will soon be evident.

Word for the Day: quartile. Wilson says the ballpark project is now in its “fourth quartile”.

I certainly would like to know the status of the investigation of liley Morgans alleged behavior. Anyone else, the matter would have been resolved long ago. Perhaps, the strategy, is to stall until her term expires. If prosecuted now and found guilty, she would have to resign!
