Bridge to nowhere

One change that should not be attributed to our new city manager concerns the woman who holds (held?) the job of deputy city manager for transportation and public works.

After her dustup with city council on April 24, 2014 (Necessities first) she seems to have disappeared.

City hall insiders tell me that she is nowhere to be seen.  The rumor is that she was fired.

Our news outlets have not covered the story.  Maybe the rumor is not true.

I would think that the city would let us know.

We deserve better

Is this the person responsible for getting CC to spend $4.7MM on trolley preparation improvements only to admit she had no binding commitment from the state for the remainder to finish the job? If she was let go, well that is a good sign that maybe some accountabiity is creeping back into city hall after a long hiatus.

Don’t be silly. They will not let you know. In the words our infamous city attorney, “It’s a personnel matter.”

I think this is the same person responsible for the trolley fail. Look at the article in El Paso Inc for April 6 to verify.

The trolley idea is foolish. 1 million apiece to refurnished, then you tracks and power lines to install. Reorganizing traffic lights and flows. That IS a waste of money.

The whole deal was to satisfy ortega’s train fetish.

TxDot was to pay most of it but obviously the city would be on the hook for operating costs. It was Ray whose idea this was back in 2002, I think. Grand vision and would really be something here, connecting downtown and Juarez to Cielo Vista and UTEP. Then again, it is El Paso.
