Another parliamentary trick that we see being used locally is strategic absence.

We are seeing more and more instances where members of city council miss meetings where their votes would be telling.

We deserve better

    A decent news media would follow up and ask the absent member how they would have voted had they been there. Of course, this may mean they could lie and say they were going to vote whichever way it went, but at least they would be in some kind of public record…
