City council has items on its agenda today dealing with the May election.
Conspicuously absent is anything dealing with proposed charter amendments.
Didn’t our mayor say that he would bring the strong mayor/city manager choice back to the voters?
The last posted agenda for the Ad Hoc Charter Advisory Committee was for the January 28, 2013 meeting. It does not look like they have done anything.
We deserve better

it will be too expensive to send tommy packing with a large buyout of his contract. again, the voters seem not to care at all.

People will say anything to get elected. The fact that the mayor is quiet on the subject makes me think that he was never committed to putting it on the ballot. I believe the Mayor ran a shrewd campaign to capture the votes of the 74%, while planning to forge ahead with the agenda of the previous mayor and council. I don’t think the mayor or council members want to work as hard as they would be required to work if there were not a city manager.

I agree, unfortunately no government agency is holding them accountable for their actions and voters have not supported activists who speak out on behalf of taxpayers. We need to show our support for honest leaders that really care about our city i.e. Ray Salazar, Stephanie Townsend Allala.

Or maybe the mayor changed his mind once he was properly informed on the merits of having a city manager form of government. Having said that I still do question his integrity for never debating Steve Ortega.

If he has changed his mind, he should step up to the microphone and tell the people that is the case and give the reasons why. He owes it to voters to do that sooner rather than later. The delay and his silence on the topic since being elected is reason to doubt whether he was ever really serious about putting it on the ballot.

I believe our committee sunsetted at the conclusion of its work. It was never a committee that was to meet on a regular basis.
