Concrete facts

According to the scope of work presented to city council when they were awarding the contract, the pavers at San Jacinto Plaza were to be installed on a mortar bed over a concrete foundation.

If they are cutting corners on this, no doubt, there are other areas where they’re ripping us off on this “renovation.” Good pics. I hope you forwarded them to somebody on city council who will expose the contractor’s dirty work!

The contractor is not necessarily the only one at fault. City staff is culpable at minimum for a lack of project oversight.

The city has also issued change orders on this project. The city staff might have casually traded the mortar bed and concrete foundation for something they wanted more. We all know, however, that the something more did not include bathrooms.

Serious questions remain: how is this happening and why, and are we paying for something we are not receiving?

What happened to Niland’s personal project oversight that she promised. She told IDIQ in front of city council that she was going to be on the job site to make sure that we received the quality of work that we deserve and are paying for.

It was cleaner, more inviting and less expensive before they started the stupid of creating a mini-central park.

    Not even close.

  6. Where is the “like” button?! Thanks to homeowner and wannabe for pointing out what I have been suspecting all along! Why in the world was it necessary to totally tear down what had existed for hundreds of years, in order to gain less than what we had?! And, how is this still going on?! As for Niland, you know better than to expect her to get her privileged self in the dirt.
