This came in from Xavier Miranda:
We can demonstrate community influence by calling all city council members and demand that the city manager’s $61,000 raise be rescinded. Here is the link to contact them: http://gis.elpasotexas.gov/districting/
This came in from Helen Marshall:
Ms. Niland “asked for patience” about the ever-delayed completion of San Jacinto Plaza, and told us that when done it will be the wonder that El Pasoans deserve. (Ask yourself what exactly this might mean…given that 90% of the voters do not vote, what might they deserve?) AND, it will knock the socks off of Las Cruces and Van Horn!
Wow! Someday we might even make Ft. Stockton jealous! And we’ll raise Tommy’s salary another $100K.
Who’s planning to vote for increased salaries for council and mayor?
I was considering voting for the salary increase for Council members. However, now that they have spent it on an undeserved raise for the CM plus given him extra vacation time to make money as a consultant, I plan to vote NO.

Too late, the raise has become voted. To rescind the vote would be a slap to the city manager.
However, he could do the right thing by stating he is flattered but way too much.

I was amused by the part where Niland said that the new San Jacinto Plaza will be our “crown jewel”. Really? That’s the best we’ve got?
And since when is is it our goal to inspire jealousy in the surrounding smaller cities? Her mean girl insult directed at Las Cruces and Van Horn tells you a lot about the way she thinks.
After seeing Niland’s quotes about the San Jacinto project, I think we should change the city slogan from “it’s all good” to ……..
It’s all fabulous.
