City invents dead cam

Wanting to take a look at our almost completed San Jacinto Plaza, I wandered over to the web cam that the city provides on their web site.  I got this view when I looked on August 9, 2015:

My internet service is indeed high speed, certainly faster than anything that city council does for the proletariat.

The last image available from the “time lapse construction camera” was from July 18, 2015.  It looks like the web cam has been dead for about three weeks.

Then again since the text of the web page tells us that the plaza is scheduled for completion in “early 2015”, maybe we don’t need lack of progress reports.

We deserve better

They are in the process of moving the web cam to Van Horn for comparison purposes.

I look at streaming LIVE web cams . . . . . all over the world
and the El Paso Plaza cam is not working, not streaming LIVE.

I suspect “No one has reported the problem” or “it is too difficult to report the problem” or “The ones responsible for it, have NOT EVEN checked it.” or “They dont care.”
Maybe even FROZEN into position due to all of the pigeon poop glued to it.
Or, the camera has been stolen and the July 18th photo is the last they have, because they didnt make it secure.
(Remember, in El Paso, many seem to be able to climb those HUGE billboards and completely change them/ graffiti them, overnight, without anyone noticing.)

The city’s claimed commitment to openess and transparency is total BS. The fact that they turned off the camera and haven’t updated the page is another fine example of the city’s actions not being consistent with its strategic goals that they always talk about.

LoL! Dead cam!! Maybe they’ll award another $61K for his strategic non-transparency.
