Part timers

City council is going to an every other week meeting schedule starting January 12, 2016 if item 6.1 on the December 1, 2016 council passes.

This is the resolution:

biweeklycouncil

This will give city staff even more control.

We deserve better

The City Council does not know what is going on NOW. . . so, meetings every other week will mean they KNOW EVEN . . . . . .LESS !
And the public will not have as much time to comment and discuss issues with HALF as many meetings.
THEN. . . . as any business would. . . CUT their pay in half.

  2. But, they will have “work” sessions on Mondays, before the Tuesday meetings, so they can do even more behind closed doors, thus keeping the taxpayers further and further out of the loop.

It gives them more time to install speed bumps on major streets. I for one, encourage them to stay away from meetings where they can do more damage. I say lets limit it to one meeting per year!

If things were running smoothly and there were no issues, I might could buy into a reduced schedule. However, it’s irresponsible to meet less frequently when things like the QOL projects are so screwed up. This move has more to do with their desire to reduce the frequency of accountability and public input.

Well most city staff is on a 4 day workweek so I guess there was some envy at the CC level. This levels the playing field.

Maybe we need to consider dissolving the city/county government like some people in Sunland Park
