Our city council is using yet another technique to hide their actions from us.
As we know the regular council meetings are video recorded. Citizens can access the videos and see who said what.
They are having more and more “special” meetings. Those are not recorded although many of them are held in the same room as a regular meeting.
Some topics handled in recent “special” meetings:
- Ethics ordinance
- Road pavement plan for the next few years
- Bond advisor mess

I will say it one more time: We do not now, nor have we ever needed a City Manager form of government. We need now, more than ever, a strong Mayor to grab hold, and bring some honesty and daylight to this mess. We are on the verge of bankruptcy as it stands right this minute.

jerry is usually right. he was right about jaime abeytia. he is right on this. were doomed. taxes will have to go up. watch the news when they tell us the taxpayers’ subsidy for this years hot tax shortfall. there will be one each year, growing like a weed.

These special meetings don’t jive with the reasoning presented leading to the charter amendments just passed giving them 2 meetings a week instead of about 4 that we have now. They said something about being more efficient and having more time to prepare but then they go ahead with more special meetings??? I think you nailed it….they don’t want the public involved.
