Unofficially hearing that Ms. Cynthia Ontiveros is going to get the Principal position for the Single Gender school. NO ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE! Cynthia is a wonderful person and very dedicated educator, but that is not right. It does not match the other Principal applications and requirements. She is a known to be a close confidant to the superintendent.
There were some VERY qualified candidates with several years of true administrative and principal experience….we believe they adjusted the job description that would not ask for years of experience in admin specifically. Can’t prove that, but it’s been known to happen.
The job descriptions of most newly appointed positions are not even online or updated since 2013, such as Dr. Tamekia Brown’s newly “created” position. Hearing that she is no longer the Executive Director for Core Instruction and is now something to do with Executive Director of Professional Development. They physically moved her to the PDC (Professional Development Center).
Also hearing that now Troy Byrne’s, who was hired as Director for Core Instruction is the interim Executive Director for Core in Tamekia Brown’s place and he was like the 4th candidate in the actual interviews. When is someone going to investigate what is going on? Is this even true? They are still listed in the directory but their geographical locations and actions say otherwise.
There are some shady things happening here… Open records might disclose some of these occurrences.

I am upset that in order to get a promotion you have to come from Socorro ISD and be connected to Karen Blaine in some way. I have applied and interviewed for several openings at Boeing. Like many of my EPISD colleagues who have also applied, we can’t get a break. I have given my career to this district and have stuck it out in the bad times under Garcia. I guess I should apply in Socorro since Karen Blaine has brought over her buddies who didn’t have really strong administration records there or hired people without experience like C. Ontiveros. Troy Bryne was moved several times in Socorro and has a arrogant and bullying reputation and the latest is Jason Long, another one with a mediocre record at the Socorro early college. Blaine herself has a reputation for not finishing anything she starts and moves around including having the lowest performance early college in Fabens. The last time we had this many Socorro people come over, look what happened under Garcia. Guess they figure we don’t have talented people internally. As the President-Elect would say, “very sad, sad.” Need to drain this swamp.
