Martin Parades over at elpasonews.org recently wrote a fine piece about the 8th court of appeals overturning the Gandara bribery conviction. You can read it here.
Acknowledging that the conviction itself was absurd and Mr. Gandara suffered personal harm Mr. Parades goes on to question the actions of our local district attorney.
While our district attorney has been absent in the vast majority of the recent public official criminal cases he chose to prosecute Mr. Gandara.
The end result was that the court of appeals found that there was insufficient evidence to prove that Mr. Gandara broke the law.
Why would this district attorney prosecute the Gandara case when he has ignored many others?
We deserve better
