Crumbling roads

Has anyone asked city council what they intend to do about the atrocious condition of our neighborhood streets?

Aren’t the streets more of a necessity than the arena?

The city’s pavement condition index is available here:  pavement condition index

Unfortunately it does not work.

We deserve better

How do they expect us to get downtown to the Ball Park/ PLAZA ??

I remember how people complained about streets before the the Q of L bond issues and our elected officials and the Paso Del Norte “education” campaign were all telling folks street repair would be a priority. Another broken promise. And yes, I voted no because I recognized these bonds were simply a handout to REIT investors and the local construction lobby.

After giving this more consideration, I have determined this is a plot force people to ride Sun Metro by destroying peoples automobiles!
Consider, no car, either buy a new one (Hm, mayor is a car dealer)
    or ride the bus.

The most irritating thing about this problem is the extreme neglect of major streets. It’s one thing to have potholes on secondary streets, but when you have mini-craters on Mesa, Sunland, and other major streets, it’s a whole other thing. And the neglect has worsened at a time when more traffic is being forced from I-10 to interior streets. Some of these large holes exist and grow for months, causing drivers who know those streets to swerve and dodge the holes, increasing the risk of accidents. The repairs are never made properly, so the holes keep coming back.

They only worry about the street in front of their houses.

  6. I totally agree. I have been harping about the deteriorating condition of our too long neglected streets for several years now. Still, nothing is being done – everywhere I go. But, we need a frickin’ Arena downtown, right? Why not wake up, stop pushing the only-for-the-benefit-of-the-rich-few Arena, and use that money for improving streets?

Meant to say Tolbert’s attacks made sure no one on Council pays attention to streets. Too early.
