The swastika or swastik was a centuries old religious symbol in the societies of the Indian subcontinent until the Nazis adopted it to indicate the Aryan race and its proclaimed superiority. Western usage focused on its symbolism of good luck. (See Wikipedia…https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika) There was nothing racist or fascist about using it as the name of a coal company in 1921!
That ad really stuck . . . because. . . .
I know. . . whenever I see a Swastika . . . it sure reminds me of Wholesale Coal and Coke in El Paso !

If this was in the El Paso newspaper. . . yep, there are 2 mistakes. “Buyers’ Guide” is printed upside down and should be “Buyer’s Guide”.

It could be “Buyers’ Guide” if the company expected to have more than one buyer…
