City ethics

It appears that the mayor is blocking the recommendations of the city ethics review commission.

El Chuqueno wrote about it here.

There are other areas where the city should clean up it’s act.

One example is with the city’s parliamentarian.

Currently the position is filled by the city attorney.

She has admitted in public that council has violated their meeting rules while she remained silent.

We deserve better

“Ethics”??? Really, El Taxo politicians, don’t have no stinkin ETHICS. There is no ETHICS, HONOR, INTEGRITY with these people. They do whatever they want, get away with whatever they can, without any consequences or responsibility for any of the things THEY do to US. Apparently the “Ethics Committee” is just there to plan parties for the politicians or maybe they are just bench-warmers that needed a “Position”. Maybe they are just “Staff” that the ELITE politicians refer to? The City, County “Government”, much like the EPISD, could use a good “FBI cleaning”. Tax, waste, spend, tax some more. El Taxo, Texas.

The Mayor is absolutely NOT blocking changes to the ethics commission. He is reviewing other city’s ethics ordinances to make sure the changes are sufficient and on target. What’s wrong with a review? Knee jerk changes come back with unintended consequences.

What exactly is the point of having an “Ethics” Council in El Taxo? Just people the Mayor, City Council wants to give positions? It’s like having street sweepers out in 50 mile an hour winds and blowing sand. An exercise in futility. The only time El Taxo politicos have “Ethics”, Integrity is at election or campaign time. Otherwise it’s lie, deny, deceive about everything THEY do to US.

That work has already been done for the mayor. The ethics commission conducted an exhaustive review of other city ordinances, led by a reputable attorney who chairs the commission. Thankfully, it was an attorney other than the city attorney.
