what’s the beef? my dad had diabetes decades ago and I’d buy the syringes for him without a prescription all the time. if you’re wondering about people shooting up with some illegal drug it’s better they have clean syringes to do it than to risk spreading a blood borne disease sharing needles with somebody else.

If you want to find something that is really crazy try not being able to gamble on the horses using the Internet. Most other states allow and it helps the race tracks and horse racing. But Texas wants you to save your money for a church I guess. 😦

Or they simply want to help the families of folks with a gambling addiction by eliminating a convenient outlet for their addiction. Easy access to needles helps prevent disease in drug addicts. Online gambling has the opposite effect on gambling addicts.

Anonymous, maybe they could look at booze and know how much trouble it causes and ban the sale and consumption of it! 🙂

When you’ve got a racetrack within easy driving distance and you still feel deprived because you can’t bet online at home, you really need to start asking yourself if your need to gamble is getting a little out of hand. Booze is legal. Online gambling in this state is not. And let’s face it, how many folks who just socially gamble really care about online gambling? Obviously, not enough to influence legislators.

Good points by mamboman3. Like other tools, syringes can be used by humans for various purposes. I was traveling a few years ago and needed more insulin/syringes; thanks goodness I was able to buy an emergency supply without an RX.

You can buy syringes on ebay without an Rx and be 9 years old.
HOWEVER, you CANNOT buy any size bottle of Oxygen at a drugstore !
At some point they made Oxygen . . . .. illegal to buy without a prescription. A long time ago . . . you could buy one of those round green bottles of Oxygen at a drugstore. 20 years ago I went to the drugstore for my dad, (he was feeling tired and week and had quit smoking) so I went to find some Oxygen, and that’s when I learned that Oxygen was illegal to buy or sell (on the open market).
Access to Oxygen should be a God Given Right.

Down here in Houston people don’t trust air they can’t see.

“tired and weak and had quit smoking” so you prescribed oxygen? Excuse me, but you are aware that oxygen is highly combustible, and very dangerous, right? That is why it cannot be obtained without a legal and/or medical reason. Beyond that, depending on a person’s age, feeling tired and weak is not necessarily adequate medial reason for the application of oxygen.

You must not watch any sports on TV. Oxygen is commonly used on the sidelines to help players recover from tiredness and weakness. I trust the sports team doctors more than I trust a blog commenter who is not a doctor.

Apparently it’s as easy to buy syringes in El Paso, as it is to buy aspirin. In the last month, on my morning walks, have found two, USED, just thrown down on the side walks. One on a street corner, just across from an elementary school., the other, just down the street from a school. Illegal drugs are an out of control disease in El Paso.

I believe this is for DIABETIC -Insulin syringes & needles. Any should be properly disposed.

The oxygen bottles can be used to cause or enhance explosions or fires. Medical facilities have to use caution around their oxygen bottles. There is a good reason for needing a prescription for bottled oxygen.
