Don’t tell the truth when a lie is more convenient

So which is it?

Is the city attorney retiring, resigning, or being terminated?

If she is retiring as she has said, the six months of salary that the city has agreed to pay her is a violation of the state constitution according to a recent article in the Times.

Resigning would also make the payout illegal.

If however she is being terminated, her contract evidently provides for six months of severance.

Can’t anyone be honest about this?

We deserve better

Sorry, this is a personnel matter. You don’t have a right to know. You’ll just have to trust us.

My understanding is that someone can file a lawsuit for a potential illegal payout. We have several regular readers of this blog who have the ability to pursue it so that the truth comes out.

This is rapidly becoming a PR nightmare for the city and calls into question so many actions of the recent past. The Mayor and City Manager must take decisive action now to re-establish the already fragile trust they have.

Continuing to try to sweep this under the carpet is not a Six Sigma strategy that I am aware of.

To achieve Six Sigma, a process must not produce more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. A Six Sigma defect is defined as anything outside of customer specifications.

Clearly, there is much work to be done, Grasshopper!

The thing City leaders can’t comprehend is that taxes have risen enough in the last couple of years that the villagers are ready to ask hard questions. The Dems in the Reyes camp understood that you could be corrupt and do all the backroom deals you wanted as long as you held the line on taxes. Today’s Shapleighites and collaborating RINOs haven’t figured out that when you lie and raise taxes at the same time eventually the lies stop working.

Thanks for acknowledging the collaborating RINOs. That’s a breath or fresh air. You’re one of the few commenters on this blog who acknowledges that the problems in Hell Paso are a function of people in both parties and not a function of the DEMs alone.

The politicians in El Taxo don’t handle the TRUTH very well. Lie, deny, hide, deceive. “Transparency” here means that WE can see through everything THEY do to US. The only solution here, just like EPISD is to bring in the FBI, Texas Rangers. Inherent corruption and Margo is just a part of the problem. They pay, give away money, do whatever they want. “Oh no, she didn’t get FIRED, she retired, uh ah resigned, uh retired. Well doesn’t matter, we are going to pay her off anyway and stupid, ignorant peons don’t need to know. It’s a SECRET”. The Lawyer in Austin already said it was ILLEGAL what THEY are doing.

Just another example of El Paso City Government corruption. We are forgetting the reason why Firth is “retiring” , ” resigning”, whatever in the first place??.. It was her not being honest as to” conflict of interest” when it comes to the city of El Paso providing tax incentives to her husband’s property (co-owner).. So, on top of her not being honest and transparent we have the whole city council doing the same and giving the press and everyone else the run around when all we ask for is answers, honesty, and transparency from our elected city government officials. Shame on you El Paso City Government!!…

And when the people who are ELECTED, SUPPOSED to REPRESENT US, are ask about the MONEY, they have “No Comment”. “Go ask the Human Resources”. Well THEY are the ones that will GIVE away all that money. Where are the answers?? No answers, just stupid, condescending responses. And now it comes out that Cabrera. and his EPISD minions, blew off $45,000 at a high-dollar restaurant for booze and food. This is what happens when HE, THEY are voted a BILLION$$$ Bond. Nothing more than a “Slush Fund” to blow off as HE see’s fit. El Taxo, just one big Society of Corruption. Where are the LAWYERS, F.B.I , people to REPRESENT the TAXPAYERS??
