Cultural center

The Wizard asked the other day about the ballot language relative to the cultural center.

City ordinance 017849 authorized the election.

It said:

It offered a cultural center, without any reference to ethnicity, nationality, religion, race or any other qualifier.

We deserve better

Kinda like that downtown arena that was not on the ballot, either, isn’t it?

Apparently this is the same kind of SCAM El Taxo politicians used to say that we voted to build THEM, Mountain Star Sports a ball field. That’s the way “voting, elections” happen here.. You’re never really sure of what you are voting “For, Against”, or even about how an “Election” turned out. “How did that pass? Who would vote for that? Really, who would vote themselves a TAX INCREASE”?? Any “Culture Center” designated for ONE certain Race, Ethnic group should only be built with PRIVATE funds, donations. ALL tax payers should NOT be FORCED by politicians to pay for something else THEY want

And please note that some $228,500,000 wa authorized for the ENTIRE package, museum and library improvements, the Multipurpose Performing Arts and Entertainment Center, the digital wall, the children’s museum and the “cultural heritage center.” Now the mayor says that just the Multipurpose Center will need $250 million (source of his expert knowledge not indentified) but there is no requirement to return to the voters because we approved the package. Beyond shameless.

How can we have a Mexican American Cultural Center when it was not on the ballot? We have been told that we could not even have high school or college sports in the arena / entertainment center because the word “sports” was not on the ballot.
