Tell the city manager what you think

The city web site does have a way the public can communicate with the city manager:

The city manager probably has an employee handle the messages that are sent in.

Hopefully he takes this seriously and communicates back to the sender.

We deserve better

    Dear Mr. To Go,
Yeah, l gotta question. Where can a humanoid go in this town to get some great asian cuisine? l mean, l’m not going to pretend for 1 minute that a town with: low wages, very high taxes, very high debt, irresponsible and reckless spending habits – except y’all are very fiscally prudent when it comes to patching up these pot holes, thank God!??? Only three minutes to respond to the abundance of lunacy that continues to fester in City Gov. and countless secretive meetings. We both know that the typical ignorant, complacent 915er doesn’t care about anything. Hell, they just got home from a “busy” day at the office (selling ‘Pizza on a Stick’ at the mall kiosk) he gets home, turns on the ‘idiot box’ to become even more idiotized, slaps the ol’ lady around because she was too slow from bringing him his can of generic beer. Which means my question still stands. BTW- l don’t want anything too exotic. l don’t want the ‘Teriyaki Sasquatch Combo Plate.’ You dig?

I have communicated many times with the city manager. The ONLY response I have ever received simply says “thanks for taking the time to write, I receive hundreds of messages every day and cannot answer all of them individually.” In effect, “you wasted your time, have a nice day.”

There is a big difference between post a form instead of posting his e-mail address. Submissions using the form go to a staffer, who screens what the city manager sees. Do you think the big wheels in town and Great Wolf executives communicate with him using that form? Or do you think they have his e-mail address?

Even EPISD superintendent’s profile page on the EPISD web site includes his e-mail address superintendent@episd.org, but let me know if you find e-mail addresses for people at city hall.

Thanks Brutus for the helpful ink. For your readers who are concerned about yearly local property tax increases, the governor this legislative session, is pushing an initiative to lower the tax rollback rate from its current level of 8 percent, down to around 2 percent..

It might be helpful for your posters to let the governor, plus those legislators pushing that initiative, know there are El Pasoans who support a lowering of the property tax rollback rate.

Since the ‘squeaky wheel in the one that gets the grease,’ maybe your blog posters will become ‘squeaky wheels’ on this tax rollback issue.

And now they are going to float City Council meetings around the city for more citizen input.

Per KVIA, The eight representatives and mayor are holding their upcoming meeting outside City Hall in an effort to reach El Paso residents where they are.

On Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m., the council will be meeting at the El Paso County 911 District, at 6055 Threadgill Avenue in the northeast side of town.

If you live on that side of town it is a great opportunity to convey disappointment with taxes.

Most taxpayers work from 8am to 5pm! Holding the meetings at 4 pm it’s just a formality. Let’s face it, the city budget projected high property taxes in order to justify the baseball park. We all know CC does not have any plans to lower property taxes.
