I thank the Times for letting us know that the county is busy remodeling parts of the county building to make way for the county administrator that they plan to hire next year.
The Times told us that $700,000 is being spent on the projects.
Maybe with the way many government officials consider themselves to be more important than the citizens it is improbable that the new county administrator might have chosen to just occupy an empty office somewhere in the building and save us this money.
Then again we could have waited to see what the new administrator wants.
Many of us think that the fix is in and that the new county administrator has already been chosen.
We deserve better

Speaking of government officials who consider themselves more important than the rest of us, consider the snappy new police vehicles. The motto “To Protect and Serve” is being replaced with the self-gratifying statement “El Paso’s Finest”.
Gone will be that little reminder of their mission as they get in their cars each day. Gone will be the assurance to the rest of us that they exist to help us.
Does “El Paso’s FInest” mean they are better than the rest of us? Better than our firemen? Better than our teachers? Better than sanitation workers? Better than the store clerks who give them their free coffee? Better than you and me?
Someone seems to think so, but I’m not buying it. I find it to be just further proof that government employees consider themselves the elite and entitled.
The elimination of “To Protect and Serve” is not the EPD’s finest moment.

Sorry there is no “like” button. A very fine comment, if you’ll pardon the snark. I assume that the chief had to approve this…at least, so far, the new slogan is not being plastered in MRAPS.
