Wrong answer

We have now learned that EPISD’s report of severely declining enrollment was wrong.

Mistakes happen but something is wrong when an error of this magnitude gets by without getting caught.

We should hope that the superintendent takes steps to avoid this kind of thing happening again.

We deserve better

That speaks volumes on the trustworthiness of our esteemed board of managers, some already well known for things like fuzzy math and cutting EPISD’s budget and then going on to propose extensive school closures or mergings. El paso’s “leaders” from city council to county commissioners to county hospital to EPISD to city managers and business CEO’s and boards leave much to be desired. Also says plenty about our penchant for hiring outside consultants to give us faulty reports while sucking us dry with their exorbitant fees. Who can we really trust?

Maybe you need to change your motto from “We deserve better.” to “We can only hope for better.”

On the other hand, they did very publicly correct their error. They COULD have hidden it deep within a board report to be lost forever. They apologized for the error. They explained how the error was made. Name another local entity that would do that…
