EPISD bonds–the kids know what is important

According to an article in the El Paso Times the other day, EPISD convened a group of high school students from all EPISD high schools to consider the current bond initiative.  The Times wrote:

The students said programs and teachers were more important to them than school buildings, and they also supported creating pre-K-8 schools.

I guess that none of them are in the construction or real estate businesses.

We deserve better

The kids got it right! Let’s stop the empire building and let teachers teach. Some of us older tax payers did not have all this technology in the classroom and look what we accomplished in our lifetimes through good old reading writing and arithmetic.

But yet, the administration bullies teachers under the excuse of innovation. Ask teachers about morale. Ask who gets the promotions. All of it a scheme to gut public education and turn it into yet another profit-making venture.

Rdoney: Great idea! Let’s also bring back the 1950’s with Jim Crow laws, polio, segregated schools and women staying at home where they belonged!
