EPISD–improving employee relations

We heard from two different sources that EPISD is sending expensive cupcakes to employees on their birthdays.

From a reader:

Now employees are receiving a double cupcake package in the MAIL from Nothing Bundt Cakes for their birthdays from their sweet loving district?  I wonder who they know at Nothing Bundt Cakes.
First of all, do we know how much those cup cakes cost x the number of district employees x the delivery fee….
Second of all…was there an RFP to decide who would be the vendor awarded for the bday cakes?
Third of all…do we know how many employees there are in this district with birthdays….do the math…
Fourth…where did they get the funds for this stupid idea and couldn’t this money be allocated better when we all know there was a reduction in departments in order to get our stupid raise.
On a teacher salary…yet we cannot get printer ink because our campus budgets were cut drastically….
We deserve better

I am an EPISD teacher. Just saw the glossy poster announcing that we’do receive a cake for our birthday month. Not that I want a stupid cake….my birthday was in August. NI one at our school has received any cake.
I called Nothing Bundy Caked this evening and was told that they deliver cakes to the school district offices rach month and they’re supposed to be distributed to the schools thereafter. This is a horrible district to work for.

You say you don’t want a stupid cake, but you took the time to complain about not getting one. If you don’t like working for EPISD, please quit. If you don’t like your job, the students probably see it, and I’m tired of whining from government employees.

The point is not that this Teacher wanted a cake or didn’t. The premise is the LIE that Teachers, other employees are given these cakes on their birthdays. Apparently the cakes are just SHIPPED to the District, PAID for by the District.. Doubt there was ever any intent to give them to any Teacher. Teacher “Suzan” at Bowie or Teacher “John” at Andress have no idea THEY got a cake. And so the “Birthday” cakes just go on the coffee table for all the secretaries, bench warmers, minions at EPISD. Just more of Cabrera, the Board allowing the MISAPPROPRIATION of Government, TAXPAYER funds.

Let Cabrera pay for birthday gifts to employees with his salary, not my tax dollars. Is this legal? How about sending me gifts on my birthday. Damn I have had enough of these bastards robbing me!

I believe it’s called “Misappropriation of Government Funds”.

The actual term for this is: “Gift of Public Funds”. It depends on how they allocated the money and where it came from as to its legality.

I’m sure that they ran this through their team of lawyers before doing it. The “Force” might be strong with Luke… But the CYA is stronger with this team of evil admins…

Years and years ago all EPISD employees received a birthday card from the Superintendents office – a thoughtful gesture. I believe it stopped with Garcia – and now sending cakes? That is just wasteful!! What are they thinking?

Juan doesn’t have to sign the cupcakes as he would a card. That means less work for him, which I guess is good since he says he has one of the hardest jobs in America.

And Dori Fenenbock and the board can give Caberea 15 extra vacation days to travel with her to lobby the Education Reform people for help in her political run for Congress. The money will start to roll in soon, can money buy an El Paso election for another Republican? Yes, it the Dems stay asleep!

Maybe it was a trade off? Fennenbock gave Cabrera another 15 days vacation time and in return he finances her campaign from the BILLION$$$ slush find, Bond. He, they do whatever they want. Did ANYBODY report Lorenzo Garcia?? He was stealing, embezzling from DAY ONE. Fennenbock, the rest of the Board have made Cabrera a very rich man, on the backs of taxpayers.

Well seems that Cabrera and the cronies on the School Board, PERSONAL Secretaries just can’t find enough ways to blow off that BILLION$$$ slush fund. The Nothing But Bundt Cakes has a store in the Fountains Mall and yet they pay for shipping? Actually this sounds a lot like “Misappropriation of GOVERNMENT Funds”. But then EPISD has always been good at that. Didn’t Lorenzo Garcia get in “Trouble” for something like this? Go to PRISON? Of course, the LOCAL “Authorities” will not see anything “Wrong” in this. They never do. Bet WE the TAXPAYERS MIGHT be surprised at all the ways THEY blow off, misappropriate OUR tax money and every year, it’s “EPISD needs more, more, more…………..” Maybe “Suzie” could just bake “Martha” a cake for her birthday. Everybody chip in for a cake, a card?? Maybe the FBI could just set up a “District” Office at EPISD??

Sounds like a promotional deal which probably costs nothing. NBC trying to do a little advertising.

And how exactly would NBC have a list of employee birthdays and addresses? Promotional campaigns don’t work that way. Typically those are mass mailed at one time to decision makers on for that type of product. If they are being sent to individuals on their birthdays someone ordered them. More wasteful spending.
