For the three months ended December 2017 our children’s hospital lost $3.466 million dollars.
That comes to $13.86 million on an annual basis.
The money will have to come from the taxpayers.
The new administrator of our county hospital is doing a remarkable job but he was handed a disaster.
We deserve better

If you count the Net Change, which includes interest debt, the loss for the 3 month period you mentioned is $3,889,980.
At this rate the annual loss is $15,559,920

Exactly LOSING about $1,300 000 EVERY month and pretty soon you are talking serious money. 🙂 But that’s okay with the OVERPAID “Administrators”, rich POLITICIANS that created the money toilet. NEXT TAX INCREASE home owners, NEXT TAX INCREASE.

OH but our egregious County Judge tells us that it was always expected to lose money for the first seven years or so. Just like the ballpark!

‘Helen Marshall’ provided a helpful link to that EP Times article under Brutus’ blog recent topic “Unnecessary hospital building.” Interestingly that Times article failed to mention something important about Andy Krafsur, so I will do it below.
A Times article of October 14, 2015 reports: “Andy Krafsur, an El Paso attorney and entrepreneur, was barred from serving on the El Paso Children’s Hospital board in an agreement filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court on Wednesday by Children’s, University Medical Center of El Paso and El Paso County Commissioners Court.”
Where was the then county judge, along with her equally vigilant fellow commissioner, when local citizen Krafsur was being ‘shit on’ by the Children’s Hospital?
Now this Houghton guy who is now on the Children’s Hospital board, isn’t he the same shit that helped stick us with that $97 million street car? And isn’t he the same guy who was so in love with toll roads for El Paso?
Now that Houghton has made Children’s Hospital ‘transparency’ a public issue, how about the local media testing that transparency by asking Children’s for its financial records?

Just another multi BLLION$$$ drain of taxpayer dollars, an “Albatross” hung around our necks by Veronica Escobar, other POLITICIANS. It’s a WELFARE hospital, just like the rest of UMC. Illegals, Medicaid, people with no insurance. The hospitals don’t incur any DEBT, RISK, it’s all just dumped onto the backs of TAXPAYERS. The NEXT TAX INCREASE. The entire UMC operation and its OVERPAID administrators, should be put on the market and sold to the highest bidder.

Thank you, Veronica Escobar. I distincly remembering you telling voters that the hospital would support itself. You never mentioned 7 years. But, who believes the 7 year thing anyway? And then, in her campaign ads, she states that, if elected, she can fix health care just as we’ve done in El Paso. She thinks the voters are really, really stupid, and sadly, she’s probably right.

When Vero had the second go round with CH she claimed publicly it would cost the taxpayers or causes tax increase. How many times does it take for an El Paso politician to lie to you guys before you hand them their hat and send them out the door to the unemployment line?
