City council is planning to pass an ordinance requiring entrance fees to use the new eastside sports complex.
The ordinance exempts residents of both PID (property improvement district) 2 and TIRZ (tax increment refinance zone) 9 because of the money that those properties contributed to the building of the complex.
My question is how will the city know which people to exempt? How will people prove that they live within those two areas? How much will it cost to have people administer the exemption?

There would be people moving OUT of those addresses and INTO those addresses all the time (without it reflecting on their driver’s licence).
So, lots of time and money will be wasted on attorneys trying to defend their position.
Will NEW residents, say from Out-Of-Town moving in, be grandfather’ed ?
Will ONE person in a group with ONE ID and ONE address be allowed to take 20 of their friends, from outside the area in free ?
Are they exempt also ?

So not EVERYBODY can go in, but EVERYBODY in El Taxo will be FORCED to pay for another “Pink elephant” that the Mayor, Silly Council wanted. Just something else for THEM to put the city, TAXPAYERS deeper in debt. BILLIONS$$$ in debt and WE can never pay for all that THEY want. Tax, waste, spend, tax some more. Lie, deny, deceive. Did any of the Council people up for re-election this time get kicked out??

Funny how these things work. You pay for them twice. Once with your tax dollars and again when you use them. When I was growing up, you didn’t have to pay a fee to use a city ballpark or gymnasium. Soon every person young and old will have to have a City of El Paso ID card.

The main question is, our tax money in general has paid for what has been built so far because there is no way that the PID and the TIRZ have paid that much into that Park already. There was never a mention made of a fee to be charged to the citizens of this community no matter where they live for the use of a public facility. This actually should also hold true of Southwest University Stadium since our general fund money is being commingled to pay for that pink elephant.

Yet another glaring example of City and City Council incompetence.
Few if any outside that TIRZ boundary will ever have a reason to go to that park, so counting on non-TIRZ residents to financially support what was supposed to be a regional facility and turned into an oversized neighborhood park is futile.
As with all the other projects they should have stuck to the voter approved budget.
Glad Noe will be gone shortly, too bad his replacement is worse.

Not just Noe, I’m sure. Margo, all of the City Council OWNED by big business, Developers, Mountain Star Sports, all for sale to the highest buyer. None of THEM, representing US.
