Another tax increase coming from the city

City council is in the process of approving ordinances that will allow them to issue new debt.

In 2017 the prior council raised the maximum debt rate to 35 cents per $100 of property valuation.

They evidently intend to bring us to the brink of that:

Don’t worry.  They can always raise the limit again.

We deserve better

When El Paso declares bankruptcy I wonder what effect that will have on property valuations.

Property sales will drop, but property valuations will not be adjusted downward, so taxpayers be stuck with the worst of both worlds. The people causing the problem will not have to worry about that because they have plenty of money and the values of their other residences in La Jolla and other fine places will not be affected.

Exactly. Politicians in El Taxo are not concerned with IF or how much, how little money WE don’t have. THEY have stuff THEY want And when THEY increase OUR taxes to the point where WE can’t pay what THEY want, THEY will TAKE the home, car, whatever YOU, WE have. And in El Taxo, these politicians will come around with a knife, a jug, slash your wrist and sell your blood. In El Taxo THEY don’t want to cut taxes, cut spending, WASTE, stuff THEY want. THEY simply continue to tax, waste, spend, tax MORE, waste MORE. That is just El Taxo politicians. THEY “Represent” only what THEY can TAKE from US.

I agree, waste is the main problem and nobody is accountable for their ridiculous spending, i.e. the egg beaters, baseball park, Brio project, Unfortunatelty, El Taxo taxpayers are very passive and do not foresee that our CC will bankrupt our city.

In El Taxo there is always ANOTHER tax INCREASE just waiting for THEM to vote on it. That is what THEY do to US. That is ALL THEY do. THEY give away too much in OUR TAX money to the idle rich, big business in El Taxo, people who stuff “Donations” in THEIR pockets.. Waste, tax, spend, waste, tax MORE. That is all THEY know.

Gov Abbot wants to limit annual property tax revenue growth to 2.5 percent and require 2/3rds approval from voters to increase revenue beyond the cap.

CC is trying to raise the tax rate as high as possible without having to go to voters to hedge against Abbott’s proposed tax reform. They have to raise the debt limit to get there.

Texas Attorney General has NOTHING to do with taxes in El Taxo. It’s all on the corrupt politicians that people elect HERE. Do you know that El Taxo also charges $10 more than the rest of Texas to register vehicles?? Inherent corruption.. COMPLAIN to the Mayor, the Clown Council, Commissioners.

actually Paxton could investigate CC and the Mayor for something to get them a little scared. they arent scared of a few hundred ankle biters but if the TX Rangers stormed city hall and hauled boxes of documents out like the FBI did when Cobos was county judge, they may just shit their pants or peepee a little.

    Plan El Paso

    Goal:
Poverty: Increase the poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back.

    Plan:
Debt: Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes and this will produce more poverty.

Apparently the people that vote for Democrats in El Taxo don’t have JOBS or pay TAXES. Why would ANYBODY vote THEMSELVES constant tax INCREASES or vote for the politicians who do nothing but increase OUR taxes??. Waste, tax, spend, waste, tax more.

I wonder if they included in that, NO POLITICIANS, PUBLIC OFFICIALS are on the near POVERTY list in El Taxo. They ALL do pretty well for THEMSELVES. But then THEY are in charge of INCREASING TAXES on US. Very rich School Superintendents, very rich City “Manager”……………………County Hospital managers. “US “Peons” get no TAX breaks from THEM.
