YISD makes offer to furloughed federal employees
Before the partial government shutdown ended (at least temporarily) the Ysleta independent school district made this announcement:
The announcement said that they would give priority to qualified furloughed federal employees if they want to serve as substitute teachers.
We deserve better

Why is that a problem? The number who actually meet that criteria is probably pretty low and it is a great gesture to qualified folks who are struggling to put food on the table.
I did not say it was a problem. I too think it was a good gesture.
