Now we are at $250 million

This is part of an email that came in from Max Grossman:

Vic Kolenc of the El Paso Times just published a report which includes new information on the City of El Paso’s intentions for their “Arena”. Most importantly, City Engineer Sam Rodriguez confirms that the “Arena” will cost around $250 million rather than the $180 million that voters expected. Moreover, he claims “that number could change.” Ladies and Gentlemen, brace yourself for the eventuality that the City will announce an even higher price tag, impacting our property taxes even further!
We deserve better

Want Socialism, Communism, OUT of Control Democrats?? These El Taxo politicians are it. Tax, waste, spend. TAKE more in TAXES, spend, waste some more. BILLIONS$$$ in DEBT that WE can never pay for THEM and it gets bigger every time THEY get another “Idea” or open their mouths. And WE can do nothing about THEM. Because THEY have “Rules, Laws, Policies” that THEY made up, so that WE cannot get rid of THEM. Time for the FBI to move into El Taxo City “Government”. Inherent corruption.

Get a grip and show a little objectivity if you’re capable of that. Pay attention to the responses of Anonima and Blood from a Turnip. This is not a Democrat problem. It is a problem of greed and arrogance and people from both parties are to blame.

The Mayor is a “Sort of RINO”. He does whatever the DEMOCRAT Clown Council, THEIR City “Manager” tells him to do. HE does not REPRESENT the PEOPLE of El Taxo. HE represents the idle rich, big business MONEY and also does whatever THEY tell him to do or he gets no campaign “Donations”:, money in his pockets. He, the Clown Council have an “Opinion”, they ask the money men, what their “Opinion” is. They want more money from US, they simply increase fees or tell the Central Appraisal District to FABRICATE, INFLATE Property “Values”, followed by more tax INCREASES. Your “Partisan Politics”, would mean there are REPRESENTATIVES for all of US. In El Taxo there is not.

The idle rich big business money men you refer to are Republican donors like the owners of Mountainstar who take your money for ballparks and other stuff to feather their own beds. They are friends of the your Republican mayor and city manager and wannabes on city council. While you’re focused on bashing the Dems, your righteous Republicans are eating your lunch.

It doesn’t matter what party they belong to. What matters is donors and politicians from both parties here in EP are picking the pockets of taxpayers to enrich themselves. And as long as we allow ourselves to be distracted by partisanship and the wedge issues our corrupt leadership spins to keep us from questioning their inability to deliver on promises of economic improvement, we will continue to end up with politicians that pick our pockets.

Folks from both parties are lining their pockets at taxpayer expense. Until we stop thinking about party labels and start following donor money and subsequent policy we will continue to see the kind of unchecked corruption at play in El Paso. Good candidates can’t raise enough money to get past the folks who mindlessly vote for the candidate in their party that buys the most ads because the donors contribute at a level that is hard to match with grassroots contributions.
